RON BRENT
Co-Founder

Ron Brent is an adjunct lecturer for leadership at the US Naval Academy Annapolis with specific focus on Leadership and the Warrior Traditions. He brings a visionary and entrepreneurial spirit to our team. He has extensive experience working with individuals and organizations and is highly regarded for his ability to connect with people, as well as skillfully identify solutions to complex problems. His professional background is diverse. Ron has many years of experience as a business development executive, having served in that capacity for M3 Films, Media Field and Idea Champions. As Founder and President of Insight Enterprises, he was instrumental in successfully establishing a presence in the US market for Pharmachine, a unique delivery system for the distribution of OTC medicines.

During the 1990’s, Ron served as Associate Producer for a series of documentary films shot in India, Nepal, Tibet, Turkey, Egypt, and Israel. He worked closely with the Director of the series, insuring that filming was accomplished in circumstances that were often extremely challenging.

In 1970, Ron began his formal training in yoga and meditation with a member of India’s iconic warrior class, the Sikhs. This training combined the strength, determination and nobility of the Sikh tradition with a rigorous regimen of physical and mental exercises, resulting in a system of self-discipline designed to empower practitioners. After six months of continuous daily training, Ron opened a studio in Carmel Valley, California and began to teach.

The following year Ron made the first of many trips to India. After three months internship with a world-renowned meditation master, Ron returned to the U.S. to co-found a residential meditation center in San Francisco, where he continued his teaching. In the following years, he continued to teach while establishing several residential meditation centers in Southern California.

In 1982 he returned to his teacher’s Ashram in India, which remained his home base for the next 12 years. During this period he helped manage the daily running of the institute, which housed up to 1000 students, many of which were from Western countries.

In 1987 Ron began to visit local villages on a daily basis, gaining knowledge of the culture and assessing the needs of local villagers. As a result, a number of health and educational programs were implemented, including eye-camps for cataract surgery, wells for safe drinking water, the awarding of educational scholarships, literacy and economic development programs, and more.

From 1994-2003 Ron sat on the Global Board of Directors for the PRASAD* Project, a not-for-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life of economically disadvantaged people around the world. Since 2004 Ron has been a Trustee for PRASAD Children’s Dental Health Program, an initiative delivering dental care to underserved children in rural upstate New York.  (www.prasadcdhp.org)

Ron has made television appearances speaking on the benefits of yoga and meditation, and taught at Monterey Peninsula College.
